440. Robert Simms

ROBERT SIMMS of Nansemond County, Va., may have had a first marriage before
his marriage to Phillis Fiveash, daughter of George Fort, in about
1720-1721. He is believed to have been born about 1694. His 1729 will in
Bertie Cunty, N.C., lists four sons plus other unnamed children. The son
named were Thomas, James Joseph andRobert. Of these only Robert Simms (II)
is known definitely to have been by Phillis.

456. James Wier

James Wier, the earliest known ancestor of the family here traced, was born in 1683, probably in Ulster, was the son of one of those Scotch Covenantors, who migrated from his home in Scotland to the inviting province of North Ireland. He was a farmer in County Tyrone. The name of his wife is not known. The children of James Wier were seven in number: 1. Thomas Wier (see no. II below); 2. John Wier; 3. James Wier; 4. Robert Wier; 5. William Wier; 6. Margaret Wier; 7. Agnes Wier.
